Ingredients You'll Need For Watermelon Pizza
How to pick a watermelon
- In order to check if the watermelon is ripe, hold it close to your ear and knock at a few spots. If you hear a deep, resonating sound, then the watermelon is ripe. However if the sound is hollow, then the watermelon is mostly likely not as juicy and not yet fully ripened.
- Make sure you pick a heavy melon. When it comes to watermelons, the heavier it is the better it will taste!
- The exterior of the watermelon should be dull and not shiny. Watermelon with a shiny exterior is an indication of it being unripe.
Creamy cheese sauce
This creamy cheese sauce is a simple concoction of cream cheese, Greek yogurt, and honey. It’s a smooth and slightly sweet sauce that forms the base of this watermelon pizza topping. You can replace the Greek yogurt in this recipe with sour cream for a slightly more tart flavor.
The best part about this creamy sauce recipe is that it doubles up as a dip! I like to make a large batch, and store leftovers in an airtight glass jar in the refrigerator and serve it with fresh fruits all the time. My kids love it, and are more likely to eat their fruits without a fuss!

Absolutely! The watermelon slices and cream cheese stay fresh in the refrigerator even overnight. However, the fruits might shrivel a little bit.. So if you are concerned about that, then simply prep the ingredients the previous day and assemble just before you are ready to serve.
Richa’s Top Tips To Make The Best Watermelon Pizza
- This recipe has minimal ingredients, so I would recommend using the fresh and ripe fruits for the best flavor and texture.
- Avoid fruits that tend to brown (eg. bananas and apples), especially if you are making this for a party or picnic.
- Seedless watermelons work best for this recipe. However, you can easily use the normal seeded watermelons like I have done here.
- I would recommend using round watermelons as they are much easier to cut into discs for this watermelon pizza.
Believe me, this is one of those recipes that may seem weird but once you take a bite, are so refreshing and delicious, that there’s no stopping! If you happen to make this fun and refreshing snack/dessert, be sure to share your pictures with me on IG!
